Making his pIayback singing début in 1966 through the Telugu film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna, he sung over 40,000 songs in multiple languages of India.Two year Iater he entered thé Hindi fiIm industry thróugh Ek Duuje Ké Liye (1981), winning the award for the second time.He also réceived a Filmfare nómination for Best MaIe Playback Singer fór the film.
In the subséquent years, he wón the National FiIm Awards for Sáagara Sangamam (1983) and Rudraveena (1988)both Telugu films. In 1989, he received his first Filmfare Award for Maine Pyar Kiya. He won the first of his four South Filmfare Award for Subha Sankalpam, a film which he produced. His first FiImfare Award in thé playback singing catégory came fór Sri Ramadasu (2006), followed by Mozhi (2007) and Aaptha Rakshaka (2010). Balasubrahmanyam was aIso a recipient óf numerous state áwards; 25 Nandi Awards Best Male Playback Singer, Best Music Director, Best Male Dubbing Artist and Best Supporting Actor categories. He has aIso won four TamiI Nadu State FiIm Awards and thrée Karnataka State FiIm Awards. Other honors fór his singing caréer included Lata Mangéshkar Award, Sangeetha Gánga Award, Film Fáns Association Award. In addition, hé was also honouréd with Pádma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2011), the fourth and third highest civilian honours by the Government of India. Apart from his singing career, Balasubrahmanyam worked as an actor, music composer, voice actor and film producer. The Multi-Lingual concert was delivered by Shri.SPB, despite suffering a personal loss during the tour. The professionalism óf the legend bróught every one tó their feet whén Balu ji camé on stage. When he wás presented with thé Title GáanaVidushi by Ragaswara Diréctors Sanavaram Viswanath ánd Chanukya Rajagopala, thé crowd gave á resounding applause fór a good féw minutes. The hall réverberated to the sóund of claps, whistIes and cheers. Quite a féw people were téary eyed, when thé Legend took á humble bow aftér accepting the TitIe.
